This role is based on our Digital Division, the largest division at Entain. Comprising of over 100 entities across the globe, in excess of £2bil Net Gaming Revenue earned by the division on an annual basis.
Job Description
The Digital Financial Accountant will play a key role within the Digital Financial Control team, supporting the delivery of a strong control environment across Digital Financial Control.
Reporting to the Senior Digital Financial Accountant, the role will be a primary contact for compiling and providing audit evidence to external auditors as part of the Group audit, as well as owning elements of a non‑statutory revenue and controls audit.
The successful candidate will contribute to Entain’s ongoing finance transformation programme, with a strong focus on automation, data analytics, and the adoption of new tools, including AI.
The role requires close collaboration with offshore finance teams in India and regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Digital Financial Accountant to strengthen financial controls across the division.
- Support balance sheet reconciliation processes across Digital entities, assisting with preparation and investigation of reconciling items to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Review, approve, and release payments in line with delegated authority, ensuring payment runs and urgent payments are supported by appropriate documentation and comply with internal control requirements.
- Act as a key contact for the external auditors during the Group audit, responsible for delegating, compiling and reviewing high‑quality audit evidence in a timely manner.
- Handle and analyse large data sets to support audit requests, control testing, and insight generation, using Power Query and Power BI.
- Own and deliver a non‑statutory revenue and controls audit, ensuring documentation, controls, and outcomes are robust and well evidenced.
- Ensure audit and control documentation is maintained to a high standard and aligned with group policies and best practice.
- Play an active role in the finance transformation programme, proactively identifying opportunities to improve automation, streamline processes, and enhance control through the use of new tools, including AI‑driven solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with Finance Shared Services in India, and other offshore teams, providing clear guidance and responding promptly to queries.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Digital Financial Control team.
- Provide ad hoc financial control and reporting support as required to meet business and audit deadlines.
Specialist Skills and Experience Required
- Strong financial control mindset with experience supporting or performing audits in complex, data‑rich environments.
- Proven experience working with large data sets; capability in Power Query and Power BI is desirable.
- Proactive and inquisitive approach, with a demonstrated ability to identify control weaknesses and drive process improvements.
- Strong interest in automation and emerging technologies, including AI, and their application within finance.
- Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial and technical concepts clearly to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
- Experience working with offshore teams and across different time zones.
- Able to work independently, accurately, and efficiently in a fast‑moving environment.
Qualifications
- Recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), qualified within the last 2-3 years.
- Recent Big 4 audit experience is preferred; Top 10 firm experience will also be considered.
