As the Head of Finance Business Partner - Product, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Product cost base and assist the business to manage the Innovation cost base. This will include accounting, reporting, forecasting of Product costs, and appraising the value generated by these costs.
The role reports into the Operations and Integration Finance Director and will have regular interaction with the Chief Product Officer who reports to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Innovation Officer and the Finance Director for New Ventures as well as other members of the Senior Leadership team as and when required.
You will work to deliver high quality information and interpret and present financial data in a business-friendly way.
What you'll be doing:
- Accountable for the financial accounting, forecasting, reporting and analysis of the entire Product cost base including all overhead and capital spend
- Support the financial accounting, forecasting, reporting and analysis of the entire Innovation cost base including all overhead, capital spend and benefit tracking
- Generate periodic cost centre reporting packs for presentation and discussion with cost centre owners to drive accountability throughout the business and challenge budget owners to control their spend within budget
- Business partner the different departments within the business to ensure they have full understanding of their cost base, highlight areas of potential cost saving opportunity and drive insight and control over spend
- Business partner the different locations within the business, in order to gain a full understanding of the cost base in each location and ensure costs are accurately budgeted and controlled
- Provide detailed analysis and insight on variances in Product spend and Innovation spend against the forecast
- Support and challenge the production of accurate forecast models for all Product locations overseen by the Chief Product Officer and for Innovation spend
- Ownership of the modelling, tracking and reporting of headcount and related people costs for Product and Innovation ensuring costs are accurately reported on and controlled
- Act as gatekeeper for the headcount approval process to ensure no recruitment takes place unless the correct process has been followed and the right level of sign-off obtained
- Ownership of periodic capex reporting and analysis, including return on investment / value generation analysis to help the business prioritise spend
- Own the Internal Development capitalisation policy, track the costs accurately and constructively challenge management on the rates used to capitalise internal people costs to ensure adherence to group policy and audit scrutiny
- Accountable for the financial accounting, forecasting, reporting and analysis of the cost base for a group wide people efficiency programme
What we need from you:
- Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with 5+ years post qualification experience in a fast-paced environment
- Strong accounting and analytical skills (knowledge of IFRS is desirable)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Prior experience of budgeting, planning and forecasting processes
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in people management and leadership
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with and develop good working relationships with staff at all levels
- Well organized with ability to deal with high volume of work and ability to work well to deadlines
- Energetic and enthusiastic with a naturally inquisitive and challenging mind set to want to challenge the status quo and continually look for areas of opportunity
