About The Role

Entain is one of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming groups, operating both online and in the retail sector. With offices across five continents and licences in more than 30 countries, we operate some of the most well-known and iconic brands in the industry with more than 250 years of combined history – names such as Ladbrokes, partypoker, bwin and Coral.

Belgium is an important jurisdiction for the group, with both our Ladbrokes and bwin brands enjoying prominent positions in the market. Ladbrokes is one of the leading retail operators in Belgium, with more than 300 retail outlets, as well as a strong online presence. bwin is one of the most recognisable online brands in the country and currently sponsors Belgium’s top football competition, the Jupiler Pro League.

In the context of an increasingly complex regulatory and policy environment, we are looking for someone to coordinate Entain’s overarching regulatory engagement and public affairs work (for both the Ladbrokes and bwin brands) in Belgium. In due course, the scope of the role is likely to be expanded to cover the wider Benelux region.

This is a new role, based out of our Ladbrokes office in Brussels, working closely with the local team but reporting into the Director of International Regulatory Affairs in London.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordinating Entain’s regulatory engagement and public affairs efforts in Belgium (for both bwin and Ladbrokes)
  • Representing Entain in public forums, trade associations, stakeholder meetings of a political/regulatory nature
  • Liaising with political stakeholders and regulatory bodies, as well as external advisors, consultants and lawyers
  • Working closely together with our local partners DRGT on matters of mutual interest
  • Supporting and advising commercial, legal, compliance and communications teams to support wider company objectives
  • Coordinating local ESG and CSR initiatives in the region
  • In the longer term this role is likely to be expanded to cover EU/Brussels relations, Netherlands and France as well

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Fluency in English, French and ideally Flemish/Dutch
  • 8+ years’ relevant experience (ideally in gaming/gambling, but experience in political consultancy, politics or any other regulated digital sector would be a plus)
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide-ranging group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Agile thinker, capable of finding viable solutions to complex problems
  • A team-player who is comfortable working closely with colleagues (including at senior level) from other teams and across various geographies

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge of the Belgian political landscape
  • Experience in the gambling industry
  • Experience of developing safer gambling and ESG initiatives
