The gambling industry is rightly focussed on increasing the safety of its customers and considerable improvements have been made over recent years with enhanced player controls, risk profiling and interactions. However, most of this has been reactive to regulatory demand and now is the time to take this further by designing an approach that proactively guides the organisation in everything it does to generate a deeper understanding of future industry and regulatory direction.

This role is strategic, innovative and forward thinking. It will study regulatory and industry drivers in order to identify potential future business direction and the impact of any future change. Anything and everything is on the table, from regulatory interaction and research based study, steering the basis of product development with third parties through to face to face contact with problem gamblers and related support organisations. Anything to help understand the possible future need.

The purpose of the role is to support the Sportsbrands Operations Director to take the Group Responsible Gambling Strategy together with regulatory and industry developments to create a foundation of understanding across all UK facing brands. You will help understand the need for and the business impact of potential future change and identify possible product and operational developments to help the Group stay one step ahead of the demand. Working with all UK brands, you will identify where contradictory approaches exist and the business impact of standardisation to meet the Group RG policy. We are a business, and so this approach needs to be coupled with commercial realism to enable the organisation to understand the impact of change whilst placing customer safety as a primary priority.

The role will suit a senior person, with industry experience in similarly sized organisations and previous exposure to both regulatory and commercial environments covering both online and retail channels. Although a strategic role, you will need the skills to facilitate workshops to identify core needs and operational factors plus the ability to craft policy and procedural requirements and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Once the strategic requirements have been identified and agreed, you will be a key stakeholder guiding the appropriate development and operational teams in the delivery of the end result. Experience of portfolio or programme management would therefore be beneficial.

What you'll be doing:

  • Identify and monitor RG KPIs across UK Sports and Gaming. Providing the necessary data analysis and reporting structure required to deliver direction leading data intelligence
  • Own the delivery of the weekly commercial insight packs covering all RG Headwinds making sure they are prepared and communicated to the business in a timely manner
  • Own the commercial impact of our RG customer journeys across UK Sports and Gaming to build a single view of RG performance which enables greater focus on over and under-performing RG functions
  • Represent UK Sports and Gaming on key group RG projects – gathering and inputting requirements, shaping solutions to deliver on UK strategy / objectives
  • Own the roadmap to drive long term RG scenario planning / risk mitigation efforts for UK Sports and Gaming
  • Ensure appropriate levels of communication and education about RG and SG processes, initiatives and change across the UK business. Ensuring there is appropriate understanding of the business / brand / customer context right across the central operational teams.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through seeking out new and innovative ways of improving Entain’s responsible gambling offering.
  • Provide on-going support for key responsible gambling initiatives across Entain and the wider Group
  • Actively manage / participate in planning, implementation and tracking of specific short, mid and long-term initiatives.
  • As a senior member of the leadership team, display exemplary leadership qualities consistently amongst the wider Finance team and across the organisation.

What we need from you:

  • 8 years + experience in delivering strategic and change initiatives, impacting both internally and externally.
  • Prior knowledge of the industry and particularly safer gambling is preferable.
  • Proven experience in development and implementation of process improvement in a similar environment.
  • Experience collaborating cross functionally and working directly with key stakeholders in delivering change.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving skills. Strong written & verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver succinct and on-point messages to Group Leadership.
  • High energy and drive, and flexible enough to work in an entrepreneurial, dynamic and changing environment and the resilience to challenge/be challenged.
  • Excellent team player who is hard working, flexible and able to act under pressure and on own initiative.
  • Must be effective communicator in a variety of settings: one-on-one, small and large groups and among diverse styles and roles
