About The Role

Responsible for coordinating the activities of the PMO, creating and driving a collaborative, consistent and unified planning governance framework across the group to ensure successful delivery of business wide projects and programmes.

The Portfolio Manager in collaboration with the Head of PMO will act as the liaison between the P&L business teams and product/technology teams to ensure successful and timely execution of the product development roadmap to enable the business to meet budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders across the Entain group including Senior leadership, Product management, Delivery and Commercial teams to facilitate alignment, visibility and communication.
  • Overseeing and supporting the full project delivery lifecycle from business case creation, product analysis, technology planning, execution and benefit realisation.
  • Develop a regular project and status reporting cadence and process for the Entain group including supporting tools and resulting deliverables.
  • Facilitation of the development of business vision and support in the determination of each project, programme and initiative’s unique contribution to this.
  • Monitoring and actively managing project deviations to resolve issues and bring at risk projects back on track.
  • Oversee and drive a robust change control process to enable risk mitigation and enable transparent communication when significant impact is expected.
  • Deliver high quality and transparent reporting and metrics on the performance of the portfolio enabling intervention to remove obstacles, make priority calls and deliver target outcomes.
  • Ensure a consistent commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of change and delivery ensuring the organisation holds, or has access to, the right resources to deliver upon the present and future portfolio commitments.
  • Develop and maintain oversight over business case creation, capturing of budget objectives and supporting of benefit realisation to assess value proposition.  
  • Facilitate regular steering meetings with business teams, product and delivery to provide progress reports and enable constructive discussion surrounding any risks and impediments that require executive resolution or decision making.

Specialist skills and experience required.

  • Demonstrable authority and responsibility for effectively and efficiently managing complex change portfolios with budgets in excess of £10m
  • Demonstrable strong performance in prior project management and/or delivery roles, with increasing levels of responsibility and independence.
  • Ability to lead complex operational and strategic initiatives with budgetary responsibility.
  • Experience managing the portfolio pipeline, ensuring resources are deployed across projects within a highly changeable business where active prioritisation is always required.
  • Experience in balancing and managing multiple internal ‘customers’ at a senior level in the development and execution of complex projects and programmes.
  • Competence in motivating and managing resources at all levels in a matrixed, multidisciplinary and globally diverse environment.
  • Substantial experience of working with both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies and associated tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communicator who is able to get one’s message understood clearly by adopting a range of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of release management and software development lifecycle.
  • Willingness to act as mentor and coach to build on colleague’s strengths and improve on weaknesses, acting as one who listens and gives honest feedback.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills; able to simplify complex problems, explore and evaluate solutions.
