About The Role

As the Automation Manager, you will be responsible for the stability and development of the enterprise data pipeline and data technology integrations. The role will require you to manage the integration of new technologies, automation of business processes and support of busines critical data feeds across the organisation. The Automation Manager will be managing a growing team of data and coding professionals using a large number of coding languages, technologies and data methodologies. This role will require you to work with the senior leaders in Data & Analytics and Technology to define long term strategies and innovative solutions.

The role requires someone with exceptional communication and organisational skills, with experience in managing technology and data teams.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Design and maintain live reporting pipeline
  • Maintain and operationalise Machine Learning models
  • Enhance and maintain data streaming pipelines
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of varying skill sets
  • Contribute to the building and maintenance of ETL scripts
  • Identify gaps in existing information provision and opportunities for new levels of support for business decision making and operations.
  • Create and maintain sustainable work practices and standards within the team
  • Scope, Maintain and deliver key enterprise projects
  • Manage project deliverables and provide continual updates to business stakeholders.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability and 100% uptime of data pipeline
  • Development and stability of integrated business data solution and front-end applications
  • Make technology recommendations for data & analytics tools
  • Architect innovative and robust solutions

Person Specification

Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Exposure in a broad range of serious back-end programming languages (python, c#, java, c++, c, etc) and knowledge of golang.
  • Experience administering and using source-control, continuous integration and deployment, and/or containerised applications.
  • Deep knowledge and experience using popular front-end web frameworks (react, vue, angular, etc)
  • Detailed understanding of traditional relational database concepts, administration and design (mysql, postgres, sql server or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts to other staff possessing a broad range of varying technical competencies.
  • Experience of designing and implementing sustainable application and data architecture
  • Excellent working knowledge of Kafka and data streaming services
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Pro-active in nature with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in leading working groups / project streams
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage various project elements simultaneously
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of a team in a fast paced and dynamic environment

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with software defined infrastructure (using terraform, kubernetes etc).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure platforms (aws, google cloud, azure, etc).
  • Tertiary studies in Computer science, AI and/or Maths related subjects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the bookmaker industry
