The UK Sports brands – Ladbrokes and Coral – make up the single biggest digital entity within the Entain Group

Working alongside the Sportsbook Director, you will develop the Sportsbook Strategy, ensuring it is aligned to the delivery of the UK Sports Brands 3 Year plan. 

As a senior leader within the wider Sportsbook Team and UK Sports Brands business, you will then be responsible for the execution and delivery of plans that implement the strategy, including taking ownership of the relationship with all internal Entain service providing departments and teams that help to deliver the customer experience of the players for whom you are responsible.

You will establish and manage SLAs with these teams, define the requirements of your customers, attribute value and manage the service levels being delivered.

The performance of this role will be measured on the delivery of strategic milestones in the Sportsbook strategy of UK Sports Brands, quarterly & annual outperformance of competitor brands NGR growth and by EBITDA contribution (to Plan) from UK Sports Brands.
 

As the Head of Sportsbook Commercial & Operational Performance, you will be a senior leader within the sportsbook team and have wide ranging influence across the wider UK Sports Brand business and Entain Group.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Aligned to the UK Sports Brands strategic intent, you will be responsible for defining the commercial objectives of the sportsbook brands.
  • Alongside FP&A, you will define the Sportsbook Budget Plan(s) and ensure communication of the commercial objectives to the wider business teams; setting targets, milestones and driving performance accordingly.
  • Alongside the Sportsbook Director and Head of Sportsbook Propositions, you will define and prioritize to the Sportsbook and Core Product Development Teams those business challenges you require solutions for.
  •  You will define the business case for all prioritized development items, establishing KPIs against which performance will be assessed post-delivery.
  • Ahead of all marketing campaigns you will furnish Brand and Player Marketing with detailed expectations of the commercial targets aligned to these campaigns.
  • Alongside FP&A teams, you will sign off all financial Plans, including monthly phasing, identifying ‘risks’ and ensuring these are raised for attention/action within the appropriate internal teams.
  • You will provide the commercial input needed for Brand Marketing campaign planning and significant marketing budget decision making processes.
  • Working with Finance and BI you will establish the appropriate mechanisms to analyze the performance of the business, identifying opportunities for growth and communicating these back to the wider business teams.
  • Acting as the ‘ringmaster’, you will engage Sportsbook Propositions, BI and Finance to define the KPIs and assess the commercial performance of all sportsbook propositions.
  • You will provide commercial commentary on business performance to internal audiences for all major marketing campaigns and sporting events. This will include communication to the UK Sports Brands SLT and Entain ExCo.
  • Alongside Player Marketing, you will align on the definitions and reporting of the commercial benefits generated via the implementation and execution of audience segmentation models (e.g., Delta) and new MARTECH capabilities.
  • Alongside Entain Procurement and Finance you will be responsible for the cost management and attribution of ROI for all third-party sportsbook services.
  • As a member of the Sportsbook Senior Leadership Team, you will be across competitor activity in the marketplace, identifying threats and opportunities.
  • You will establish and manage the relationships with senior leaders across the Entain business whose teams deliver the services that make up the wider experience of your players within the UK Sports Brands.  These will include; Customer Operations, IT Service Support, Sports Trading Operations, Gaming Operations.
  • You will develop and hold SLAs with these internal Entain service providers, managing performance delivery, attributing commercial value to this performance and driving continuous improvement in the experience of your players.
  • Lead a well-managed, disciplined team – ensuring high levels of engagement and enablement on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide clear, consistent leadership to the wider community of stakeholders that Sports Book relies on for delivery.
  • Be a vocal, engaged member of the wider Sports Brands management team – Providing input into business wide issues and initiatives, and lead from the front’ on all aspects of strategic delivery, operational performance and organizational improvement.
  • Support and drive a culture of discipline, excellence and development.

Essential:

  • Outstanding commercial acumen, based on excellent analytical capability and a strong customer focus.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to influence and drive performance across a complex matrix management structure.
  • The ability to effectively provide leadership while being able to quickly traverse between “strategic thinking” and “operational execution”.
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in the ability to articulate complex business KPIs into contextual descriptions of performance relative to strategic goals.

Desired:

  • Commercial leadership experience in multi-branded businesses.
  • A track record of having delivered results in Sportsbook/Gaming commercial roles.
  • Knowledge of the Sports-betting and Gaming sector; competitors and suppliers.
  • Previous experience as a business sponsor of product development teams.
  • Previous experience of having worked in front line customer operational teams
