About The Role

The increasing regulation of data as well as rising consumer and employee expectations regarding privacy have led to an increased business demand for counsel, guidance and support in this area including DPIAs, DSAR responses, marketing governance and third-party risk management. As a result of the increasing workload, the global privacy team continues to expand, and an opportunity has arisen within Entain’s Data Privacy team for a junior lawyer with solid data protection experience.

We are looking for a qualified in-house lawyer who has at least 1-2 years’ experience to be based in our Gibraltar office, which will include a relocation package if the candidate is located in another country. We may also consider candidates to be based in the UK, even though Gibraltar is our preference.

Commercial contract experience is essential as is experience in supporting projects and providing advice and guidance relating to the GDPR and other privacy frameworks such as the US CCPA/CPRA.

Key Responsibilities: 
In particular, the individual will be able to work as part of the global privacy team to assist with the following key workstreams;
Negotiating, drafting and advising on data protection contracts (specifically data processing, data sharing, data transfer and master service agreements with data protection clauses).
Conducting due diligence on existing or new vendors (through the completion of data privacy assessments) and reviewing outputs on the OneTrust tool.
Partnering with the procurement and information security teams to develop and incorporate privacy controls, including conducting supplier audits and due diligence assessments as part of our supplier risk management framework.
Supporting the Privacy Lawyers / DPOs with investigating data breaches and, if necessary, preparing reports to regulators.
Assisting the Privacy Lawyers / DPOs with responding to any regulator complaints.
Providing legal advice on Data Subject Requests (mainly access and deletion requests), including a final review of Data Subject Access Request (“DSARs”).
Drafting and/or regularly updating existing and new Entain policies, such as customer and employee-facing privacy notices and other internal group policies owned by the data privacy team.
Supporting the Group Data Retention Manager with the review and implementation of the Group Data Retention policy.
Providing  advice and guidance on tactical and strategic data privacy matters to various business stakeholders including marketing, product and compliance, including on M&A due diligence, data protection complaints, marketing initiatives, and any new or existing business projects that involve the use of personal data such as responsible gambling 
Supporting the Data Privacy Manager and Privacy Lawyers / DPOs in completing and assessing new projects/initiatives, products and business processes through Data Privacy Impact Assessments and other risk assessments.
Providing data protection training to the business across all business locations.
Keeping a watching brief on upcoming data laws and regulations and its impact including  risk and opportunities  for the business.

Competency, Knowledge, Experience & Skills

Essential
Fully qualified lawyer.
At least 1-2 years of PQE either in-house or at a law firm.
Degree-level qualified (BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree) or equivalent legal qualification.
Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in business environment.
Commercial contract experience.
Relationship builder with a commercial approach and a natural aptitude for dealing with multiple stakeholder communities.
Multi-tasker, inquisitive and proactive self-starter used to managing tight deadlines.
Capacity to manage a range of responsibilities with limited supervision whilst maintaining effective communication with the Privacy Lawyers’ / DPOs and the rest of the privacy team.
Strong oral and written communication skills to correspond with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders across various teams and departments.
Process orientated and excellent attention to detail.
High degree of discretion and confidentiality in handling often sensitive team and business issues.
Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.

Desired
Previous experience of working in-house, preferably in a global digital consumer business
Sports Betting & Gaming experience.
Previous experience in and excellent knowledge of data protection laws, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation and other international data protection legislation, such as the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the Gibraltar Data Protection Act 2004 and US privacy frameworks including CCPA/CPRA.
International experience outside of the UK.
Prior experience or knowledge with the OneTrust data privacy tool.
Relevant professional qualifications e.g. IAPP CIPM or CIPP/E.
Interest in IT developments and new technologies.
