About The Role

About the role!

As a seasoned senior engineer in the technology team and a team lead within the incident response team you will be able to keep your calm in a fast paced technology environment and be able to respond and resolve incidents in a time critical industry.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Continuous Professional Development for engineers within the team.
  • T shaped skillset - A preference for leading technical solutions but understands the importance of supporting skills including co-ordination, requirements articulation, delivery management & people management.
  • Frequent prioritisation decisions based on complexity/ time to resolve / impact and severity.
  • Ability to manage high pressure challenging and competing priorities from senior stakeholders.
  • Change agent & lead for best industry practices within the incident response domain. 
  • Responsible for supporting resolution of issues raised via the technical support channels.
  • Triage issues quickly using logging and metric tools available.
  • Communication of status and resolution of issues raised.
  • Work within the SLAs defined by the technology leadership group. 
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap with ideas and opportunities for improvements.
  • Maintenance of key components across a modern enterprise technology stack.
  • Collaborate with other engineers & key stakeholders in the organisation
  • Flexible approach to work: We operate an ongoing on-call roster and during peak sport/racing events require some weekend work. To support this we offer remote work options where you can work up to 3 days a week remotely with flexible working hours.

About you!

Experience & Qualifications Required:


  • Fluent development skills in one or more of Golang, C#, Java, C++ (or equivalent compiled language).
  • Proven experience in Front End technologies including but not limited to VueJS (or React), Vuex (or Redux), Vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Exposure to logging/metric tools Sumo, Grafana, New Relic. Kibana.
  • Strong knowledge & experience of JavaScript (AJAX, JSON, XML, HTTP, Request, DOM), including web application design.
  • Solid understanding of web standards and technologies (HTTP, SSL, browser caching, cookies, domains, etc).
  • Exposure to Docker and containerised applications.
  • Experience with one or more NoSQL data solutions (MongoDB, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch)
  • Basic understanding of traditional relational database design (MySQL, MSSQL or similar)
  • Understanding of the general concepts of microservices vs service oriented architectures.
  • Excellent knowledge of the mobile industry and the ability to develop our products using the latest device capabilities and trends.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proactive work ethic & reliable at incident resolution.
  • People management from a previous role.  


  • Kubernetes orchestration experience.
  • Strong understanding of networking (Networks, Firewalls) and design considerations for distributed systems. 
  • Experience in data-warehouse solutions (Amazon Redshift).
  • Strong understanding of Amazon Web Services, including Infrastructure as code solutions (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, NATS or other stream handling solutions.
  • Experience with UI automation tooling. 
  • Experience with ITIL4 – Incident management & service desk use. 
  • Understanding of devops principles.
  • Understanding of lean/agile principles.
  • Experience with UI Automation
